Book 72 The Knot Ultimate wedding look book

The Knot Ultimate Wedding Lookbook: More Than 1,000 Cakes, Centerpieces, Bouquets, Dresses, Decorations, and Ideas for the Perfect Day
The Knot Ultimate Wedding Lookbook: More Than 1,000 Cakes, Centerpieces, Bouquets, Dresses, Decorations, and Ideas for the Perfect Day
928 books to go!

Just went through another wedding book. There are a million of them lol, I've only scratched the surface with the collection available at Hewlett Woodmere plus some other books that have been interloaned.

This book was nice. The visuals and photographs were amazing, lots of different color combinations and examples to look at. They also featured some quirky non standard examples which were cute too. The text was somewhat helpful but honestly I just skimmed through it as I'm sure many other readers of this book will tend to do as well, the book is most obviously about the color scheme examples and the photographs to inspire you and give you ideas.

There were a few helpful ideas pertaining to what Shawn and I might possibly do for our wedding. There was a color scheme suggestion we could use if we decide to use red and pink in our wedding.

I think this book is worth it for a library check out or to take out on loan from a friend who might have bought it, as for a necessary purchase while planning your wedding it is pretty but not too useful, just only on the idea front. I also think you can use their website theknot.com to see lots more, they even suggest links from their site to you throughout the book.

One more note if you are making a wedding website I wouldn't use them. I tried and their editing system was kind of funky and I wasn't able to even edit some pages. I made my website at mywedding.com and am having a much better experience with it.

Book 71 Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games)
Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games)
929 books to go!

I absolutely adore these books and am plowing through them so fast. Suzanne Collins puts a terrific spin on the second book of this trilogy preventing it from becoming a repeat of The Hunger Games. In Catching Fire uprisings are beginning to happen in some of the districts. It's also time for Quarter Quell which is the 75th anniversary of the hunger games, for this the capitol comes up with something clever and special for these games. For Quarter Quell they decide that the tributes will be reaped from previous victors which means that Katniss is back in the arena for the second time. What happens at the end will surprise and delete you as well as leave you grabbing for Mocking Jay to find out the exciting conclusion to this excellent trilogy.

Book 70 Town & Country Wedding Vows & Promises

Town & Country Wedding Vows & Promises: And Other Words for the Bride and Groom (Town and Country)
Town & Country Wedding Vows & Promises: And Other Words for the Bride and Groom (Town and Country)
930 more books to go!

Between Thursday and today I spent some time reading through this book. From the looks of it I thought it was just a simple book guiding you through wedding vows should you chose to write your own. This little treasure of a book is much more than what it seems. There's useful etiquette facts, suggestions on how to word almost anything that is a written part of a wedding, guides and ideas for different ceremonies etc. I checked the copy I just read through out of the library but I thought this book proved to be very useful and it was very cheap on Amazon so I've ordered my own copy. Although this book is actually pretty recent in my opinion it proves to be a timeless book that makes a great addition to any wedding planner or bride to be's collection.

Book 69 Preston Bailey Fantasy Weddings

Preston Bailey's Fantasy Weddings
Preston Bailey's Fantasy Weddings
931 books to go!

Last week, exactly 11 days ago I became engaged to my boyfriend, obviously he is now my fiancee. I figured he would propose to me and I knew he wanted to do it as soon as he possibly could, but his proposal still floored me. Part of my 1,000 book challenge will now feature wedding books. I'll be reading through a bunch of them to get ideas and helpful hints so that I can be semi-armed with some information when we plan our big day. For now we're working on two engagement parties and then we'll start planning. One engagement party is limited to some family members, the other party will be held at a bar for all of our friends to come to if they wish. All of this being said (or written) I will now blog about the first wedding book I've completed.

In this book Preston Bailey (apparently a well known designer more specifically for the rich and sometimes famous)details 9 designs he has done for specific weddings as well as including a last chapter devoted to some of his signature designs which he uses over and over again.

I had mixed feelings about this book. It wasn't really helpful regarding wedding planning or decoration unless you either want a lot of flowers at your wedding or you can afford to hire Preston Bailey to design your wedding. The book was also standard wedding design for the very rich and semi-unimaginative. The only plus in my point of view is that some of the pages were pretty to look at.

My verdict for anyone else out there reading this blog who happens to be in my boat (which is proud unrich hardworking bride interested in as much DIY planning as possible) is that this book is no help at all. If you're very rich by all means peruse this book and then call Preston Bailey right away to pay for what I'm guessing is an astronomical fee to have him design your wedding.

Book 68 Sweet Valley High # 2 secrets by Francine Pascal

Sweet Valley High # 2: Secrets
Sweet Valley High # 2: Secrets
932 books to go!

At the conclusion of this weekend I have one book and two movies to blog about. The movies I think I'll do later. I realize I haven't been faithfully reviewing movies for my film blog.

I went through this quickie of a read on Friday night after finishing The Green Hornet on 3D because it came included to watch for free on my Sprint EVO 3D. Any future movies I watch through my phone though will have to be done using my sister's netflix account.

In this second installment of Sweet Valley High drama Jessica is vying for the title of homecoming queen. She's very desperate to get it and even more desperate to have Bruce Patman (her new dream guy)as her king. To get the title she covets Jessica exposes a secret she discovered about Enid Rollins (one of the other three girls competing for the title) and causes a terrible mess. In the end it all works out very well for Enid (even better than she hoped for) and Jessica gets her just desserts for being a manipulative biotch (something I wish would happen in real life to certain people I know - although I've been told these people already have gotten what's coming to them).

These books are quite mindless but I like to turn off my brain for a read sometimes. Although SVH confidential was terrible the SVH series itself is pretty good and it's the only kind of drama I like dealing with. I detest real life drama (although it does happen sometimes) and I've recently taken some steps to ensure that I stay as far away from real drama as possible, I'll take the fictional high school drama thank you very much!

Book 67 - French Pressed by Cleo Coyle

French Pressed (Coffeehouse Mysteries, No. 6)
French Pressed (Coffeehouse Mysteries, No. 6)
933 books to go!

I'm going through these coffee house mysteries on my kindle so fast. Two more to go and I will be current with this series until the author hopefully writes another coffee house mystery.

In this book Clare teams up with Mike to investigate a few stabbing murders that have taken place. The stabbing victims were employees of Solange, a trendy restaurant her daughter Joy was interning for. Joy is accused and arrested for the murders and Clare must sleuth again to find out who the real killer is and get Joy out of jail.

These mysteries are light reads, they read very fast and are highly factual and entertaining, once again great job Cleo Coyle!

Book 66 - Walking Dead Vol. 13 too far gone by Robert Kirkman

The Walking Dead Volume 13The Walking Dead Volume 13
934 books to go!

Only one more walking dead to go before I'm done with them for now...until maybe Vol. 15 comes out. Every issue seems to be packed with exciting stuff and lots of action. In this volume the community that's supposed to be a safety zone is hit with some chaos resulting in some deaths and with Rick in a pretty good position to become the new community leader. I find it interesting that Rick is constantly being thrown into leadership.

Book 65 - Decaffeinated Corpse by Cleo Coyle

Decaffeinated Corpse (Coffeehouse Mysteries, No. 5)
Decaffeinated Corpse (Coffeehouse Mysteries, No. 5)

935 books to go!

Started plowing through the rest of the coffee house mysteries that are on my kindle thanks to clever computer skills of my love. These are pretty quick reads for me. In this installment Clare begins to investigate and snoop around after Matt's friend who's trying to start a new line of decaf coffee is sort of mugged in the alley by her coffee shop. As always she gets Madame and her ex as well as partner Matt involved in the investigation. She also finds out some disturbing information regarding her daughter's new love affair.

Already started reading French Pressed number 6 in this series, after that I just have to read 7 and 9 since I read number 8 already out of turn.

These books are terrific for a coffee and mystery lover and you will learn great new facts with each reading that the author cleverly writes into these novels. Props to Cleo Coyle I absolutely love these!

Book 64 - Walking Dead vol. 12 life among them by Robert Kirkman

Walking Dead Volume 12
Walking Dead Volume 12

936 books to go!

Finished this one last night before I passed out for much needed sleepy time. Things sort of calm down and get less scary but very weird for the group. They are approached by a member of a gated community safe from the zombies, it would be similar to your ordinary neighborhood before the zombie apocalypse hit. They journey to this community and begin to settle in but they're unsure whether or not they can fully trust the community members. The reader is left contemplating a very interesting  and semi suttle  move from Rick by the time this volume is finished. Can't wait to see what happens in 13 and 14. Next entry is a change up from walking dead, I just breezed through one of my coffee house mysteries.

Book 63 - The walking dead 11 fear the hunters by Robert Kirkman

The Walking Dead Volume 11: Fear The Hunters
The Walking Dead Volume 11: Fear The Hunters

937 books to go!

I'm sort of eating these up right now. Currently on 12, than I have 13 to read both of them have to go back to the library and I ordered 14 from Amazon for Shawn and I to read.

Morgan comes back with the group after Rick and Abraham make a supply run to Rick's old police station and he joins the group on the move to Washington. They also come across a holy man and are invited to rest in his church. Dale disappears and comes back completely legless due to a group of cannibals that have been watching the group and have it mind to eat every last one of them. I won't tell you more, only that there's a lot of reflection on good vs. bad, human vs. monster this one was quite exciting and very gripping.

Book 62 - Walking Dead Vol. 10 What we become by Robert Kirkman

The Walking Dead, Vol. 10: What We Become
The Walking Dead, Vol. 10: What We Become

938 books to go!

Finished this off last night! Shawn's up to 13 already, he'll probably get through 14 pretty quick when it comes in as well. This one was interesting. Rick goes off with Carl and Abraham to his home town, he still had keys to his police station and he thought it would be good if they made a run to get some supplies. On the way there they both talk about how they feel like they've become monsters in order to protect the ones they love.

These graphic novels are getting pretty interesting and more and more disturbing with each issue. Robert Kirkman is going to great lengths and I can't wait to read what happens next.

61 - Before I go to sleep by S.J. Watson

Before I Go to Sleep: A Novel
Before I Go to Sleep: A Novel

939 books to go!

Been going through this novel at work and at home a little bit, since I checked it out with my library card. I was kind of excited for this book, I found out about it through book expo and wanted to buy the e-book, since it was new though the e-book was too pricey for my e-book taste so I decided to check it out through work.

The book was alright, sort of kept me on my toes, but it also sort of bored me until the very end when everything became thrilling as a thriller book should be. Christine Lucas wakes up every morning with no memory, every morning her husband Ben explains to her that she's lost her memory in an accident that she's 47 and married. She sees a psychologist Dr. Nash who encourages her to keep a journal. As she writes in her journal she begins to remember things and starts to question Ben who might be lying to her for some reason. Some parts of her journal, which was the main part of the author's writing, was mundane but helped the reader to notice discrepancies in what Ben told her from day to day.

If you like thrillers and don't mind a little bit of a bore here and there than this book should be alright to pick up.

Book 60 - The hunger games by Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games

940 books to go!

I'm very anxious to get to the first 100 books of this challenge, 40 more books and I'll be there. This was the first book I bought when I got the Kobo off of e-bay. The e-book version was $5, a lot of people seem to be impressed with this book so I bought it.

When I finished the book yesterday I wanted to pick up Catching fire because Ms. Collins left the book off at a slight cliff hanger, she's left the second book in this trilogy Catching Fire open to a potential love triangle, I'm also wondering what kind of action there will be now that the games are over.

This first part of the hunger games trilogy begins when Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her sister's place after her sister is chosen in the reaping to compete in the games. Katniss is paired up with Peeta from district 12. Both of them are prepped for competition and are faced with the possibility of having to kill each other after Peeta confesses he's had a crush on Katniss since he saw her in district 12. I don't want to present any spoilers so the summary will have to end here, hopefully you'll be encouraged to pick up this little gem and read the next two books in the series after that.
