Book 310 Salt Sugar Fat by Michael Moss

Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us

690 books to go!

Michael Moss a journalist, starts this book off with a secret meeting that took place between the giant food corporations of processed foods. Scientists & doctors urge these food giants to put less salt, sugar and fat in the products that they market but the food giants keep on spitting out the same arguments over and over, the main one being that their product will not taste as good without the extra additions of salt, sugar or fat. Also another shocker is that if a product is marketed as low fat the company compensates by adding extra sugar and extra salt.

This book has scared me away from processed foods. I'm probably going to still eat some products here and there (mainly yogurt & pre-made bottled smoothies) but I'm definitely going to stay away as much as possible. I'm going to make my own quick bread, soup and tomato sauce from now on. It's less convenient but more natural which is better!
