The novel mainly deals with the psychological aspects of an overweight relative who doesn't want to help themselves and the burden it puts on the family. Primarily I chose to read this book because I am dealing with the same kind of situation that the characters in the novel deal with when they interact with Edie. I understood where a few of the characters were coming from, what they were dealing with and why they made the choices they made. To me this novel was very fascinating a good psychological fiction.
